Good news for your feed! And they are indeed very important.

Senator Lindsey Graham’s bill on sanctions against Russia has just been voted on and passed in the Senate version (meaning it’s final! Thus, Congress has done its job). 262 – “in favor”, 159 – “against” in the House of Representatives, and there were 86 “in favor” and 11 – “against” in the Senate.

It just needs to be presented to the President of the United States for signing. I have no doubt – he will sign it.

We finally have the positive result we were expecting!

Thank you to both the Republicans and those wise Democrats who voted “in favor”, putting security and countering the aggressor above domestic political interests.

And, of course, sincere thanks to everyone involved (especially Ukrainian Americans) for advocating for this important decision!

Petro Poroshenko

Congratulations on the passage in the U.S. Congress of the “hellish sanctions” bill named after Senator Lindsey Graham.

This is an important decision and at the same time a worthy tribute to a person who was truly concerned about Ukraine, consistently supported our country, and held a strong position against the Russian aggressor. It was an honor for me to know Senator Graham personally.

I sincerely hope for the swift signing of the bill by President of the United States Donald Trump and the equally swift implementation of all the pressure tools it entails. This will be a strong signal of unity and solidarity with Ukraine, an important factor in deterring and increasing pressure on the Russian aggressor.

This is how the principle “peace through strength” works: the aggressor must know that the cost of war will always be significantly higher than the cost of peace.
