Petro Poroshenko

Pleased to meet with the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, Jan Lipavský.

We discussed the complex security situation in the region, the new phase of Russian aggression, and Ukraine’s urgent needs. Emphasized the necessity of urgently strengthening air defense, increasing the number of interceptor missiles, and further military support.

We count on the continued support of the Czech Republic in opening the next negotiation clusters for Ukraine’s accession to the EU. At the same time, Ukraine must do its part by implementing reforms, strengthening democratic institutions, the rule of law, and fighting corruption within the “Foundations” cluster.

Thanked the Czech Republic for sheltering hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes due to Russian aggression.

A separate direction is Ukrainian business. It’s important for us to create more opportunities for Ukrainian companies in the Czech Republic, help them maintain production, jobs, and access to European markets, as well as create conditions for their return and reinvestment in Ukraine after the war ends.

Agreed to intensify bilateral interparliamentary and political dialogue. During the war, direct contacts between parliaments and democratic political forces are especially important for coordinating positions, supporting Ukraine, and promoting our shared security and European priorities.
