We are told a lot here about how the Ukrainian authorities should have somehow built relations with Trump differently. And this is probably true. Maybe it could have been done differently, and of course, it could have been done better.
But what would be the result?
Well, everyone knows the lulz about Qatar giving a plane worth 400 million, and now catching Iranian missiles with their face. Even though Trump told Bibi to get lost during the last term. But things turned out as they did. What’s my overall point?
There was an investment forum here in Miami. Funded by the Saudis. At this forum, Trump said that he did everything right in the Gulf and let the Saudis not whine. Trump directly said that Prince Salman “didn’t think he would be kissing my ass… and now he has to be nice to me.”
He directly reduced the leader of Saudi Arabia, who buried billions of bucks into Trump, to the level of an escort in Dubai. Salman didn’t think he’d have to kiss Trump’s ass. Didn’t think there would be a war. But now Salman better be more gentle, someone tell him. Because Trump is not just an ordinary weak U.S. president.
He said this directly at a forum organized with Saudi money.
Of course, things could always have been done better. The Saudis did.
But the result is about the same. Only they don’t say about Ukrainians that we have to kiss anyone’s ass.
Well, and this also says a lot about guarantees from the U.S.
