It might seem, how is the embezzlement of money from Ukrainian energy linked to the unleashing of Russia’s war against Ukraine? But there is a connection and it is DIRECT.
Embezzling Ukrainian money through offshore accounts, Halushchenko was helped by a very interesting character, Aivar Omsson, who is the founder of the fund through which Halushchenko funneled money from Ukrainian generators to his foreign accounts.
Omsson is a money laundering star and works with top clients. Guess from one try, from which country?
Yes, from Moscow. Aivar Omsson helped launder money for Mogilevich and was heavily involved in the affairs of this gangster syndicate. Omsson was a figure in a high-profile trial in Spain investigating Gazprom’s money laundering for the mafia. Omsson was recorded as the owner of Channel 112 and other assets of Yanukovych’s “family.” Together with Boyko, Omsson was the director of Simia Holdings Limited, which owned the famous “Boyko’s towers.”
That is, Halushchenko, despite being a protégé of the UKRAINIAN president, actively collaborated in money laundering with an office that laundered RUSSIAN money.
And this “sweet deal with Moscow” from UKRAINIAN top officials has taken on new colors.
Vitaliy Portnikov said that Putin had the illusion that Ukrainians were waiting for Russia to conquer them after the election of Zelensky in 2019. According to Vitaliy, Putin saw that 25% voted for the army, language, and faith, and 73% for “meeting halfway” and negotiating, so he decided that Ukrainians who voted for Zelensky were pro-Russian.
I think that another factor that Ukraine was ready for occupation, Putin considered the common corrupt schemes of Russian and Ukrainian clans served by the same people.
Putin believed that for people like Mindichi, Halushchenko, Shurma, Zuckerman, Yermak, Arahamia, it didn’t matter whom to serve, as long as the money flowed.
In fact, this was a correct calculation, because Ukrainian elites massively left Ukraine during the invasion. They were not in the country for a month until it became clear that we were standing. They abandoned their duties and did not help the country fight.
If not for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, personally Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Serhii Naiev, and a number of other combat generals who took control of the defense, the country would not exist.
If not for the people’s feat, soldiers’ self-sacrifice, the defining role of civil society, the country would not exist.
Because the f**king elites packed suitcases of money and, together with the head of the SBU (!!!), fled the country.
In this Putin was right. For Halushchenkos/Mindichis it doesn’t matter whom to serve and send the sweet deal – to Moscow or Kyiv. As long as the money flows.
The most disgusting thing in this story is that nothing has changed. Another manager was put in place of Halushchenko, and the flows go to the top, as they did. And they are helped by the same people who provide cash to Putin. A true brotherly country of swindlers and thieves.
Will we break this circle at least now? During such a terrible war? Or is the war for us, and the money for them?!
Is there something in common between Yanukovych and Zelensky? Much more than you can imagine.
