Petro Poroshenko

A warm and candid meeting with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polish Sejm, the Polish Government’s Commissioner for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Paweł Kowal.

We exchanged views on the key priorities of Ukraine, Poland, and our allies at this defining stage. Considerable attention was given to approaches for a ceasefire and ending the war. Our position remains unchanged: diplomacy must be based on strength. That is why it is necessary to further increase pressure on Russia because Putin does not understand any other language.

Of course, we separately discussed Ukrainian-Polish relations. Our task is to reduce the tension around sensitive issues, conduct an honest and open dialogue, and seek solutions that meet the national interests of both countries. The Ukrainian-Polish strategic partnership must continue to be one of the key factors in strengthening European security, unity, and resilience in the face of common challenges, and Ukraine’s integration into the EU. I emphasized the importance of preventing increased mutual tension between Ukrainians and Poles.

Special attention was given to strengthening internal resilience in Ukraine.

We agreed to continue coordinating our approaches in the interests of Ukraine, Poland, and a Unified Europe, ending the war and restoring peace.

Thank you, Paweł, for an interesting conversation!
