▶ In Florida, another meeting took place with Putin’s envoy Dmitriev and trusted associates of the 47th president – his friend Witkoff, his son-in-law Kushner, head of the federal procurement service and Trump adviser Gruenbaum, as well as US Treasury Secretary Bessent.
After the meeting, Witkoff published the following tweet:
“We are encouraged by this meeting and that Russia is working to ensure peace in Ukraine, and we are grateful to [the president] for his decisive role in achieving a lasting and long-term peace.”
You are not mistaken. Witkoff is encouraged that “Russia is working to ensure peace in Ukraine.” Apparently, on the night of January 31, it was diligently “working” on this by carrying out another terrorist attack with drones and a probable cyberattack, causing a blackout in Ukraine and Moldova.
What Dmitriev actually discussed with US representatives, we do not know. But we can make a highly reliable assumption. Dmitriev, in contacts with the Americans instructed by Putin, plays the role of a promoter of Potemkin village business projects, on which the 47th president, his friend and son-in-law, and all their close friends can earn billions. No wonder Trump himself spoke of the “unlimited opportunities for business projects” in Russia. This is the result of Dmitriev’s work. The opportunities of the Potemkin villages will not be limited, as Dmitriev apparently claims, just pressure Ukraine to agree to Russian terms, i.e., to capitulate. Then the war will end, and you will immediately start earning huge money.
The fact that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent participated in this meeting with Dmitriev might indicate two things. On one hand, Trump, Witkoff, and Kushner may have asked him to listen to what kind of business Dmitriev proposes. On the other hand, Bessent’s participation may be a sign that the discussion could also be about sanctions. Dmitriev might have been requesting the lifting or suspension of certain sanctions or ensuring no new sanctions were introduced. But Bessent could also explain to Dmitriev that the Treasury Department has prepared new sanctions that could be implemented if the president decides so.
I don’t think this meeting means anything new. Putin’s goal remains unchanged. He dreams of destroying Ukraine and restoring the Russian Empire. His “Ribbentrop” recently, when answering a question from a Russian propagandist, said that it is unacceptable for the evil empire to have the “Nazi regime” remain in anything that “is left of former Ukraine.” Their goals have never changed and will not change. The metastasis of the socio-historical cancer called the evil empire can only be stopped by depriving it of resources to continue the war.
Putin needs “negotiations” with Trump and his representatives only for one purpose – so that the USA does not resume aid to Ukraine, does not impose new sanctions against Russia, and ideally cancels at least some of the existing ones – in other words, to not interfere with his continuation of the war. Such “negotiations,” like those held in Miami, can continue as long as Trump is willing to. Even until noon on January 20, 2029, as long as Trump is president.
By the way, the 47th president himself spoke once again on Friday about the reasons the war continues. In his virtual world, it’s happening because “Putin and Zelensky hate each other so much” that he, the main peacemaker of modern times, who has stopped “eight plus wars,” cannot reconcile them despite all his efforts. But he will continue to make efforts…
▶ The US Senate voted on Friday to pass an amended version of the budget bill for the 2026 fiscal year, which was passed about 10 days ago by the House of Representatives: 71 votes “for,” 29 “against.” A significant amendment was made to the House bill: the Department of Homeland Security budget is excluded from the bill. Funding for the department is extended for only two weeks. Democrats’ condition for adopting the budget of this department is to include new norms and rules for the activities of the immigration police and border service in the budget bill – norms and rules that would make illegal the arbitrariness committed by armed men in masks on the streets of American cities, breaking into homes and apartments of Americans, detaining people without trial and investigation, committing murders of US citizens.
The amended Senate bill must be adopted by the House of Representatives, which was, as usual, sent on recess by Speaker Johnson just when the budget needed to be adopted. As the previous temporary budget expired at midnight on Saturday, the USA is now in a technical shutdown due to the absence of an active budget. The House of Representatives will meet in Washington on Monday.
Trump promised to sign the budget bill as soon as it is approved by the House of Representatives.
Nevertheless, frustrated that he had to make significant concessions to get the budget passed and avoid another lengthy shutdown, the 47th president unleashed a stream of consciousness in a tweet on Friday evening at 9:57 PM:
“The Radical Left Lunatics, Insurgents, Agitators, and Thugs are attacking Kristi Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, because she is a woman and is DOING HER JOB EXCELLENTLY! The Border Disaster I inherited is fixed, violent criminals let into our country due to Sleepy Joe’s ‘sick’ Open Borders Policy are mostly expelled or actively hunted for deportation, and the murder rate in the USA has just reached its lowest level in 125 years! Washington, D.C. is now one of the safest cities in America – as are many other once very dangerous cities! Republicans, don’t let these corrupt Democrats, who steal billions of dollars from Minnesota and other cities and states across the country, boss you around. They use this aggressive protest scam to confuse, mask, and hide their CRIMES of theft and insurgency. They should all be in jail. I was elected on promises of strong borders and law & order, among other things. Thank you, Secretary Kristi Noem. Remember, ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES!!! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Numerous protests against the actions of immigration police took place across the country on Saturday.
▶ A federal judge ordered that 5-year-old Liam Ramos and his father, captured by immigration police in Minneapolis, be released no later than Tuesday from an immigration detention center in Texas, where they were sent 2,000 kilometers away, and returned home to Minneapolis as they have temporary residency while their asylum request is under review in immigration court.
▶ On Thursday, federal prosecutors arrested former CNN anchor-turned-freelance journalist Don Lemon and another journalist, Georgia Fort, charging them with infringing on people’s right to freely worship in church. Lemon and Fort were performing their journalistic duties, covering live the events in a Minneapolis church where demonstrators protesting against immigration police actions entered during a pastor’s sermon on January 18.
It’s utterly unimaginable that in any US city, 12 jurors could find journalists guilty who were simply doing their job – informing people about ongoing events.
Lemon and Fort were released on Friday. However, charges have been brought against them. They will have to spend a lot of money on lawyers. The charges are an attempt by the prosecution to intimidate journalists. Although the prosecution understands perfectly well that such cases have absolutely no chance in court.
▶ Meanwhile, the 47th president has filed a lawsuit. He is demanding no less than $10 billion from the U.S. Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service for his tax returns being leaked to the New York Times in 2020, which damaged his reputation. Trump’s calculation is simple and clear. As long as he is in power, he can reach a “settlement” with the Treasury without trial and pocket $10 billion from the federal budget.
▶ On Friday, the Justice Department released 3 million new documents from the “Epstein files.” According to Democrats from the House Oversight Committee, this, along with what was published in December, constitutes no more than half of the documents from Epstein’s criminal case. What was published on Friday is heavily redacted – faces in the photos are blurred and significant parts of the texts are redacted.
The 47th president appears in an extremely negative light in the published materials, but everything concerning him involves indirect documents – someone’s emails in which he is implicated in highly inappropriate actions.
Here, however, it is worth following what CNN and the New York Times have done. We will not recount the contents of these emails, which are not confirmed by specific documents. Those interested can review all the published documents themselves, directly on the Justice Department’s website.
No new documents or new compromising material can affect Trump’s popularity among his “base.” Those who adore him will continue to do so. However, such people are still no more than a third in the U.S.
What is most striking is something else. How many famous people, with different views, from various “elite” circles maintained relationships with Epstein. They could not have been unaware or at least not have suspected that this billionaire was the devil—a serial rapist, pedophile, and pervert. Yet they continued to associate with him. Former Treasury Secretary Summers, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Sergey Brin, former President Clinton, now former British Prince Andrew, former British Ambassador to the USA, and so on, and so on… this shameful list has no end.

In the end, what happens in the world depends on us. On whether we fight evil, do good, remain mere observers, wait passively and believe that someone somewhere will decide something for us, or fight evil and do everything possible for Good to prevail.
We must not let evil win. The victory of evil would mean the end of the world as we know it. We cannot allow this. Especially now.
