A good conversation with the Ambassador of Portugal to Ukraine, Luís Manuel Ribeiro Cabaço.
We focused a lot on the situation at the front, the needs of the Ukrainian military, and further support from partners. I thanked Portugal for its assistance to Ukraine, particularly within the frameworks of PURL and SAFE. We discussed promising projects that will help strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and allow us to share with partners our experience and technologies tested under war conditions.
I specifically thanked Portugal for providing refuge to many Ukrainians both in the early days of the full-scale invasion and today.
Significant attention was given to Ukraine’s European integration and the necessary reforms. I thanked Portugal for supporting the opening of negotiations for Ukraine’s EU accession under the clusters “Internal Market” and “Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth,” and I expressed hope for further assistance on our European path.
We agreed to continue cooperation and maintain regular contacts.
