A good meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine, Andris Pildāgovics.
We discussed the security situation, Ukraine’s needs in strengthening defense capabilities, boosting air defense, and protecting energy infrastructure. I thanked Latvia for its consistent support of Ukraine and emphasized the need for its continuation.
We exchanged views on diplomatic efforts and the prospects for the negotiation process. I presented the main elements of our peace plan, which is based on accumulated experience and aims to ensure a return to peace and its reliable preservation. I stressed that a full and unconditional ceasefire should be the first step towards meaningful negotiations.
Special attention was paid to reforms and Ukraine’s progress towards EU membership, maintaining the pace of European integration, and opening all negotiation clusters by the end of the year. We also discussed the importance of effective parliamentary work in fulfilling relevant commitments and implementing identified priorities.
I noted the role of the proactive position of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8) countries in supporting Ukraine, advancing its European course, and strengthening European security.
