Glory to Ukraine!

Glory to the defenders of Ukraine and all modern civilization!

  • Trump, Ukraine, “business projects” with Russia, and elections
  • Fox News poll: Trump’s rating “underwater”
  • Event in support of Ukraine at the Metropolitan Opera in New York
  • Saturday protest against Trump and his policies in all 50 states

▶ It might seem to the majority that the main event of the week is the “shift of Trump to Russia’s side,” and this should be discussed.

But the thing is, this is neither the main event nor an event at all. Trump has never had a different stance. In the Russian-Ukrainian war, he has always been on Russia’s side. ALWAYS. Since his appearance in politics, when he announced he was running for president in the summer of 2015.

For Trump, Ukraine was, is, and remains an obstacle to making money from “business projects” with Putin and dividing the world with him and Xi. It was, is, and will remain, despite all his efforts, an insurmountable obstacle.

He has never held a different position. In his worldview, there are three poles, three “strong men” – himself, Putin, and Xi. Everyone else is insignificant, unworthy of his attention. They should submit to their “strong men.” The Western Hemisphere is for him. Europe for Putin. Asia and Africa for Xi.

And these very “strong men,” leading the large and strongest countries, should decide how to interact with each other to maximize profits. In the most literal sense – through mutually beneficial “business projects” and mutually beneficial trade.

Even if you don’t consider anything Trump does, just reading Trump’s national security strategy – the official foreign policy doctrine of his administration – leads to these conclusions.

Trump’s policies and all his actions fully confirm these conclusions.

Currently, he has latched onto the deal proposed by Putin to purchase foreign assets of “Lukoil.” He, Vitkoff, and Kushner structured this deal in their usual way, like their real estate development projects.

How does Trump build his hotels, towers, and golf clubs in different countries? He finds investors to finance the project, sells them the rights to use his name in the object’s title for a large sum, and profits from it, even if the object doesn’t become his property.

This scheme is very similar to how he plans to profit from Lukoil’s foreign assets. There are three investors – two billionaire brothers from Qatar, who are close partners and already financing the construction of a golf club and hotel in Albania (which will be owned by Kushner and his wife, Trump’s daughter Ivanka), a billionaire from the United Arab Emirates – the head of the country’s security council, investor and partner in a cryptocurrency business managed by Trump’s sons and Witkoff. These investors invest $20 billion, which Lukoil receives, or rather – Putin. Lukoil’s foreign property de facto becomes the property of Trump-Kushner-Witkoff with a 20% participation of the US government investment agency. They profit from the entire network of Lukoil’s gas stations, refineries, and wells outside Russia. The real investors who put in $20 billion obviously won’t be left without their share. They can receive their share in the ownership structure and may also receive services from the 47th president that they would like to receive from a US president, but which no ordinary, normal US president would ever provide.

Trump dreams of resuming broad supplies of Russian gas and oil to Europe. He evidently hopes to create another “investor consortium” similar to the “Lukoil one” and make a profit.

This is what Trump is thinking about. It’s important to him.

He is certainly thinking about the Congressional elections too. He’s in a rush to close the deal on Lukoil before the new Congress begins. Because in the new Congress, if the Democrats have a majority even just in the House of Representatives, an investigation into the corrupt affairs of the 47th president will be launched in the first few days of its work, and this Lukoil story will certainly be one of the main subjects of the investigation.

It can be predicted with a high degree of probability that when Putin spoke with Trump a week ago, he made Trump pressuring Ukraine to capitulate a condition for closing the Lukoil deal.

If Trump does not gain control over ‘Lukoil’ assets by January 3, he will be unable to prevent the newly elected Congress from starting work on January 3, as stipulated by law – he will then be unable to conclude this blood-stained deal. Therefore, he will exert militant pressure on Ukraine. In case of a Democratic victory in the elections, he will do everything possible, even what may seem impossible today, to prevent the newly elected Congress from starting work on January 3. In reality, anything is possible – any of his actions, up to inciting a severe civil conflict in the country.

And he fears the new Congress not only because of the bloody corruption deal with ‘Lukoil’. He has already done enough for the House of Representatives of the new Congress to initiate impeachment proceedings with a long list of formal accusations.

▶ On Thursday, the results of a poll by the Fox News sociological service were published. Why are they interesting? Because Fox is a pro-Republican channel. It’s impossible to prove, but there always seems to be a slight shift in favor of the president and Republicans in their polls. Perhaps not intentional, but arising, for example, because many potential respondents who are not viewers (and Fox is mainly watched by Trump and Republican Party supporters) may refuse to answer its questions. As a result, Trump’s rating in Fox’s polls is always 2-4% higher than in other sociological services. But this makes Fox’s polls even more interesting.

Let’s turn to the numbers. They need no commentary, as they speak for themselves.

– Among Republicans who answered this question:

▶ On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, before the performance of Verdi’s opera “Macbeth” at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the general director of the Metropolitan Opera, Peter Gelb, took the stage. He said:

“Every day, throughout the ongoing brutal and illegal Russian aggression against Ukraine, the Metropolitan Opera stands with Ukraine in its fight for freedom and justice.

Today, as Ukraine faces relentless attacks, it needs our support and the support of the world more than ever. In solidarity, I ask everyone to rise, and our orchestra will perform the national anthem of Ukraine.”

The packed hall greeted the director’s address and the performance of the Ukrainian anthem with a rousing ovation. Some audience members sang along with the anthem.

America is not just Trump. And not just the 49.8% of voters who supported him in 2024.

▶ On Saturday, another round of protests titled “No Kings” (or “Without Kings” – can be translated either way, meaning the same) took place across the country. Protests against Trump and his policies occurred in all 50 states, in more than 300 cities nationwide. This time, the events took place not as street marches but mainly as rallies in squares and parks.

In the capital, Washington, the rally was held at the Lincoln Memorial.

Along with traditional slogans, there were calls to vote in the elections, vote early, and vote to oppose the establishment of an authoritarian regime in the country.

American friends, vote in elections: by mail, early, on election day. Remember that the fate of the USA, the fate of Ukraine, and the fate of the entire world depends on your votes.

Keep in mind that the agenda of each house of Congress and its committees is fully determined by the party holding the majority.

I saw on FB the declaration of an émigré from the former USSR, a Republican, that he plans to stay home and not vote because he supports Ukraine and cannot vote for Republicans who support Trump.

It’s impossible to support Ukraine without voting. It’s impossible to preserve America without voting. It’s impossible to preserve the world without voting.

Don’t stay at home. Vote.

I’ll quote my compatriot, the remarkable writer, philosopher, and sage Felix Krivin: “Where everyone thinks that individually they don’t matter, the weather is the worst.”

There are 826 days left until the end of the story called “Fear: Trump in the White House” © (the title of Bob Woodward’s book, published in 2018).

Thank you to everyone who read this. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Take care of each other, help each other. Good health to all.

Ultimately, what happens in the world depends on us. Whether we fight evil, do good, remain mere observers, passively wait and believe someone somewhere will decide for us, or fight evil and do everything possible to let good prevail.

We must not allow evil to win. The victory of evil would mean the end of the world as we know it. We cannot allow this. Especially now.

Ukrainian friends, I embrace and love you all. Please take care of each other, I urge you.

Ukraine is and always will be.

And evil will be defeated and punished. And this is certain.
