The best news of the weekend (as strange as it may sound) was the first mechanized assault by the invaders in many months. More precisely, its complete repulsion and destruction of most of the equipment.
Against the backdrop of the latest intelligence, indicating that the invaders want to deploy 300-500k new conscripts by the new year, these are indeed good news from near Shakhove, Donetsk region.
Let me remind you of two things and explain why this is indeed the best news of the weekend.
CHMObik or simply CHMO is not a derogatory or offensive word. It is an actual Russian abbreviation for Partial Mobilization. And those who fell under it are indeed Partially Mobilized, hence CHMObik).
Secondly, for those who missed the news.
On July 22, the occupiers, with forces from the 8th and 41st armies, as well as the 90th tank division, attempted an assault involving dozens of units of armored and light vehicles in the sector of responsibility of the 1st corps of the NGU “Azov”.
The enemy assault was repulsed thanks to the units of the 1st corps of the NGU “Azov”, CSO “A” of the SBU, Drone Systems Forces, Air Forces of the AFU, units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, particularly the main unit of drone systems “Phoenix”, units of the National Guard of Ukraine, and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As a result of the professional actions of all involved units under the command of the 1st corps of the NGU “Azov”, using barrel artillery, MLRS, and strike UAVs, 7 tanks, 6 AFVs, 1 BM-21 “Grad” MLRS, 1 “Tornado-S” MLRS, 3 units of special equipment, and 47 units of light equipment were destroyed. 123 occupiers were eliminated, and another 29 were wounded.
The mechanized assault was repelled.
What does this mean, and why is it good news in light of the autumn mobilization?
Because the whole world sees what modern warfare looks like, how equipment works, “iron fists”, and the role of drones in defense. It seems that even the invaders have realized it; there haven’t been such assaults for a long time. That Shakhove can’t be taken with just a straightforward push with dozens of vehicles! But no.
A military mind at the level of a General Staff deputy gathers the forces of TWO ARMIES and a tank division, coming from different directions towards Shakhove. And, of course, they receive drones as instructed by Marshal.
Their mobilization aims to “overwhelm us with numbers”. To bury us with the masses. As the Koreans did at the beginning in Kursk. And this isn’t a call for us not to prepare, because we already have drones and drone operators. Even exports have begun. On the contrary!
Good news that they will throw meat at us, and we need less infantry but much more drones and drone operators.
Here, I won’t exactly say what they should do better. The main thing is that they make more targets. Massive mechanized assaults – let them be. We’ll be ready. And they won’t. Believe me, it’s better they storm with tanks 🙂.
P. S. The Azov Corps made a slight error in identifying the MLRS that conducted the artillery strike during the assault. It wasn’t a Tornado-S, but a “new” analog of HIMARS – the Sarm MLRS. It’s a lighter version of the Tornado/Smerch, launching similar 300-mm rockets up to 100 km. It uses a KamAZ chassis and has only 6 launchers. Only 12 of these MLRS were ordered in 2024. Already minus one.
