Substantive and frank meeting with representatives of the Board of Directors of the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) USA.
Thanked them for the firm and consistent bipartisan support of Ukraine from the United States over many years. Expressed hope that despite the active involvement of the USA in resolving the situation in the Middle East, the Ukrainian track will remain among the unconditional priorities of the activities of the White House and Congress.
Discussed the needs for further strengthening of Ukraine’s defense capabilities, primarily air defense, and strengthening sanctions against the aggressor. Noted that Ukraine’s potential in long-range strikes continues to grow. This is our so-called “drone diplomacy,” which today is an important tool not only for resisting Russian aggression but also for forcing Russia to completely and unconditionally cease fire and move to true negotiations. Emphasized that any diplomacy regarding the aggressor must be based on strength.
Also addressed was the internal development of Ukraine. Discussed the state of democracy, rule of law, and freedom of speech, as well as effective support for the independence of anti-corruption structures.
It was emphasized that despite the conditions of martial law, democracy, multi-party parliamentarism, opposition rights, and media freedom should not face unwarranted restrictions.
