Glory to Ukraine!

Glory to the defenders of Ukraine and the entire modern civilization!

  • G7 Summit, Trump and the joint statement of G7 leaders. Trump agreed for the first time to sign a joint statement in support of Ukraine
  • Memorandum of Understanding with Iran – a memorandum of strategic defeat for the USA

▶ In Evian, France, the second day of the G7 leaders’ summit has ended. The summit will continue on Wednesday and conclude.

The summit is not over yet, but already on Tuesday evening American time, two positive points should be noted.

First. Trump did not flee the summit a few hours after it began, as he did last year. He met with Zelenskyy – talked with Zelenskyy together with Macron, and then held a separate meeting, even though American representatives said two days ago that a separate meeting was not planned.

Second. The joint declaration of the summit on geopolitical issues, published on Wednesday when it was already late evening in Europe, begins with a statement in support of Ukraine. Last year, due to Trump’s opposition, there was nothing like this. Here is the beginning of the declaration:

  • “We, the leaders of the G7 countries, stand united in our unwavering support for Ukraine in defending its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. We reaffirm our solidarity with the people of Ukraine suffering from attacks on critical infrastructure and cultural heritage sites. We highly commend Ukraine’s resilience and its recent battlefield successes, emphasizing that a new momentum of events has emerged.
  • To support and enhance this new momentum, we have agreed to increase supplies of air defense assets—additional systems and interceptors, as well as long-range weapons. We are also ready to consider granting Ukraine licenses to increase domestic military production.
  • We emphasize the importance of ensuring energy resilience in line with the needs and priorities outlined by the Ukrainian authorities. We have agreed to provide further support to help the country endure the coming winter.
  • We commit to intensifying pressure on the Russian military economy. In this regard, we will tighten sanctions, including in the oil and gas sector. We believe that now is the appropriate time to take additional measures, as President Trump has secured an agreement to open the Strait of Hormuz—a deal we support.”

Honestly, it was hard to imagine that Trump would ever agree to sign such a declaration.

Ultimately, actions matter more than words.

There are only two ways to deprive the empire of evil of the ability to continue the war, two levers of influence on Putin. The first is to deal him painful military defeats, including strikes on his military industry. The second is to deprive him of economic and financial resources, to halt the functioning of his entire economy.

To effectively act in both directions, military assistance to Ukraine must be increased, and the US should resume such assistance. Effective defense of Ukraine against Russian missile attacks is one of the key components of delivering military defeats to Putin. Therefore, supplying Ukraine with new air defense systems and missiles is very important. It is highly desirable for the words of the declaration to turn into actions.

To stop the Russian economy, comprehensive effective joint sanctions by the G7 and EU countries against the Russian oil and gas sector and the entire Russian financial system are necessary. All tankers from the Russian shadow fleet should be declared illegal, detained, and seized. Russia must be deprived of the ability to export oil, liquefied gas, and petroleum products. Ukraine is ensuring that these opportunities are continually diminishing. G7 and EU countries, as promised in the declaration, should aid Ukraine in ensuring that Russia cannot receive money for its oil, oil products, and liquefied gas.

And the 47th president has a great opportunity to show that he signed the joint declaration not just for show. Already by Wednesday, the so-called general license halting sanctions against Russian oil trade is set to expire. If a new general license is not issued, sanctions will be reactivated.

But to implement the provisions of the declaration, total sanctions must be imposed on the entire Russian shadow fleet and the entire Russian banking system.

Military aid to Ukraine must be resumed.

To achieve both, based on the law, Trump simply needs to give the green light to the Senate Republican majority leader, Thune, to bring the Ukraine support bill to the Senate floor. This bill, already passed by the House of Representatives, provides for the resumption of aid to Ukraine, the renewal of the lend-lease law, and a loan for purchasing American weapons worth $8 billion.

If Trump does this, he will bring the end of the war closer. Actions matter. Words only have symbolic significance.

▶ On Friday, as announced, a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran will be signed. According to Vice President Vance, who spoke with ABC channel journalists, this memorandum is only one and a half pages long.

Its text, however, is being carefully concealed by the White House. Why?

This is very unusual for the US. When the administration plans to sign any international treaty, agreement, or memorandum, as in this case, the document is always published before it is signed. This ensures clarity about what exactly is being signed, what obligations the current administration assumes on behalf of the US, and what obligations the counterpart country assumes.

Judging by all the leaks from the White House that many American media have published, citing their sources, the text of the memorandum is not being published to delay the public outrage over the content until after it is signed.

From what has leaked to the press, it follows that the memorandum will effectively be the US’s acknowledgment of its strategic defeat in the war.

According to the memorandum, there will be a ceasefire on all fronts for 60 days, including the front between Israel and Hezbollah. Iran will unblock the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days, and the US will lift the blockade on Iranian ports. Iran commits to never produce or acquire nuclear weapons.

It should be noted again that the Strait of Hormuz was fully open for free navigation until February 28, before the start of the US and Israel’s war with Iran.

Iran had already committed to never produce or acquire nuclear weapons under the JCPOA agreement concluded in 2015, which Trump terminated in 2018.

According to various sources cited by the media, the US will commit to lifting sanctions against Iran as Iran fulfills its obligations. Sanctions against Iranian oil will be lifted immediately following the signing of the memorandum. It remains unclear—whether the obligations are according to the memorandum or future obligations related to an undetermined nuclear program agreement and Iran’s existing enriched uranium reserves. It is also reported that, according to the memorandum, a $300 billion fund will be created for the development of Iran. In effect, this means poorly disguised reparations to Iran. Part of the fund (exactly which part remains unclear) will be contributed by Gulf countries. Several media outlets state that this fund will be filled with private, not government, investments. We will see when the memorandum is published.

Thus, with the memorandum to be signed on Friday, the US acknowledges that it has not achieved any of the goals set in the war, indicating a strategic defeat. Several goals were outlined by Trump in his video address on the night of February 28, when the war began:

⇒ Elimination of Iran’s nuclear program. Iran still possesses 11 tons of enriched uranium, including 500 kg enriched up to 60%, which is sufficient for developing nuclear weapons. It is likely that Iran has preserved the infrastructure for uranium enrichment.

⇒ Elimination of Iran’s missile program. According to a leaked US intelligence report, Iran retains 70% of its ballistic missile arsenal, at least 50% of its launchers, and the capability to produce both.

⇒ Preventing Iran from sponsoring its proxy forces in the Middle East. Iran fully maintains its influence over Hezbollah and the Yemeni Houthis, who operate under direct instructions from Tehran. It retains all capabilities to supply its proxy armies with weapons, including ballistic missiles and drones.

⇒ Regime change in Iran. The regime remains in power. Moreover, the role of the IRGC—the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—has significantly increased, making the regime harsher than it was before the war began.

Additionally, Iran has demonstrated that it possesses a weapon against which the US has no antidote – the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which plunges the US into an economic and the entire world into an energy and economic crisis. According to US intelligence data reported by CNN, Iran can resume this blockade at any moment, and the US has no real means to counter the control over the strait using drones and mines.

When a country starts a war and cannot achieve any objectives set in the war, that is a strategic defeat.

The 47th president tried on Wednesday in Evian to “sell” his “victory” over Iran to the whole world. He claimed that the JCPOA agreement led to Iran creating nuclear weapons, and his “deal” prevents Iran from creating nuclear weapons (as previously discussed). He assured that if he hadn’t started the war, Iran would have a nuclear bomb in two weeks, and Israel would no longer exist (I remind you, a year ago Trump claimed he had already destroyed the Iranian nuclear program, and when his military intelligence director disagreed with him, Trump fired him). He stated that he did not aim to change the regime in Iran and that now there is a very rational regime in Iran, with which he, Trump, can deal.

In the US, the memorandum planned to be signed and what Trump and Vance claim have drawn sharp criticism from both liberal and conservative, and even very right-wing media.

The conservative Wall Street Journal called the article on the memorandum’s content “Trump Retreats.” And the far-right National Review wrote that when Trump talks about the memorandum and Iran as he does, he considers us all imbeciles. They even highlighted this in the headline.

Judge for yourself how Trump considers us all.

There are 949 days left until the end of the story called “Fear: Trump in the White House” © (the title of Bob Woodward’s book, published in 2018).

Thank you to everyone who read. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Take care of each other, help each other. Health to all.

Ultimately, what happens in the world depends on us. On whether we fight evil, do Good, remain mere observers, passively wait, and believe someone somewhere will decide for us, or fight evil and do everything possible for Good to prevail.

We must not allow evil to win. The victory of evil would mean the end of the world in which we live. We cannot allow this. Especially now.

Ukrainian Friends, I hug and love you all. Please take care of each other.

Ukraine is and always will be.

And evil will be defeated and punished. And this will undoubtedly happen.
