During a broadcast, I was asked what I think about the appointment of a young girl as the head of protocol for one of the ministries.
I understand that the “new faces” in the VR have completely discredited the very idea of involving young people in public service with their incompetence, irresponsibility, and constant scandals. But I am categorically against sexism and ageism, associating parents with children, all these hints “look, who is her father, he’s involved in scandals”.
My generation started working at 18 while studying, by 25 we all had two or three jobs, in the 90s, during hyperinflation and coupons, survival was necessary. At 25, I already had a child, but I never took maternity leave, I worked at UT and made stories about culture for “Vikna” by Kanesh.
I assess everyone not by age, gender, or family connections, but by education, professionalism, and moral qualities. I don’t know Ms. Doroš, but I sincerely wish her luck in her position. Today, there are not many willing to enter public service, low salaries, declarations, and such “attention” do not add motivation. It’s better to be an external advisor at the OP or a member of the supervisory board, but they are recruited there based on loyalty and only from their own 😐.
Another resonant topic of the week is the failure of the bill on the decriminalization of “hot” content.
Unfortunately, law enforcement agencies cover this area and are indeed interested in maintaining the status quo, as it provides loopholes for abuse and corruption. Our party is center-right and conservative, ideological, but we are not prudes and are ready for a healthy discussion about changing legislation and abolishing rudimentary post-Soviet norms. We received an appeal from the Public Council at the MFO “Equal Opportunities” with a long list of warnings about the bill as it stands. Unfortunately, during the war, the problems of sexual crimes, child pornography, coercion become even more acute, so while decriminalizing adult video, we must simultaneously strengthen accountability for these crimes, which also aligns with European norms.
In the faction, we started a discussion about the bill, opinions were divided, we even invited the author of the project Mr. Zheleznyak to our meeting, but we didn’t have time, as this week our attention was focused on budget changes, 40 billion taken from the Ministry of Defense and the Reserve Fund, and the Loan Agreement with the EU. In my opinion, the bill was placed on the agenda at the most inopportune time and day when MPs were focused on more critical issues for the country. The authors did not work through the text with parliamentary factions and public organizations.
I think it’s worth taking all these lessons into account for all parties and developing a new bill that provides strict safeguards against the distribution of child porn, coercion, sexual crimes, and decriminalizes what relates to the private life of adults, removes Soviet remnants, and takes away yet another corruption feeding trough from the police. We already talked about this with Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
P.S. As a journalist, I understand that the information field stands on three S’s “sex, death, scandal”. As a deputy, I still believe that yesterday’s most scandalous vote was the budget changes, which took 40 billion UAH from the Ministry of Defense. As well as the violation of regulations when the Loan Agreement was tied to a memorandum with draconian promises on new taxes. This is what every Ukrainian will definitely feel.
And our faction will strive to correct all these stories – both with amendments to the budget and civilized laws on other painful and scandalous topics.
As an opposition, we can generally abstain from any votes, considering the pressure and devaluation our team has experienced daily for 7 years. But we chose a different tactic – to criticize, propose, and refine what we consider wrong and insufficiently competent. To vote not for titles, but for content.
P.P.S. We thank everyone for such attention to our faction’s position, it seems that others in the VR do not exist. We appreciate it 🙂
