11 years ago, we expelled the Russians from PACE. Today they are returning. Under the guise of “good Russians.” Now this wandering troupe of Kara-Murza and co., touring European platforms with calls to unfreeze the assets of ordinary Russians, lift sanctions on them, and grant long-term visas because “innocent people are suffering,” will fully use this platform in Strasbourg to promote these FSB narratives. Now, distracting attention, they will craft an image of the aggressor as a victim, something they are very skilled at. Now they will talk there about poor single mothers forced to join the SVO.
I consider this a huge mistake by the Parliamentary Assembly. A time bomb that will have serious propaganda consequences. I know that the Ukrainian delegation did not vote for legitimizing this Russian fifth column, but for some reason played with some amendments about indigenous peoples, recommended some good candidates that do not exist by default, and attended the Congress of Russian Deputies in exile…
We had emotional discussions with many colleagues, and I defended and continue to defend the position that any actions to legitimize Russians are mistaken strategy and tactics. We must firmly oppose all these attempts by Europeans to legitimize them, officially appoint some Russian opposition in exile in anticipation of the breakup of the RF. There will be no breakup anytime soon, and these FSB reserves will dismantle everything they’ve infiltrated, from within.
A terrible mistake. It’s sad that our European partners do not realize this.
