The missile carrier “Admiral Essen” (project 11356R, class “Grigorovich”) is perhaps one of the most frequently targeted missile carriers during the war.
It was first hit in Berdyansk when the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided that the “Tochka-U” is also a decent anti-ship missile. “Essen” was damaged and was under repair for over a year because, again, the superstructure, radars, all that.
It was transferred to the Sevastopol harbor. Well, now we can show the might of one of the newer missile carriers. But good UAVs visited there, and “Essen” was hit again. This time in the engine compartment.
Repaired, transferred to Novorossiysk. And then drones arrived and hit it there.
As a result, I read such news:
“Sources in the SBU revealed details of the frigate ‘Admiral Essen’ being hit: the ship can no longer strike ‘Kalibr’ missiles on Ukraine.
Our sources in the special service confirmed: during the attack on the Novorossiysk port on the night of March 2, the SBU, together with the Defense Forces, struck the frigate ‘Admiral Essen’ — carrier of eight ‘Kalibr’ cruise missiles. The strike hit the ship’s mid-superstructure. As a result:
– The grenade launchers for deploying heat traps and radio signal dispensers exploded;
– The electronic warfare complex TK-25 that detects radar emissions and creates interference was damaged;
– Target illumination radars ZR-90 ‘Orekh’, part of the ship’s anti-aircraft missile system, were hit;
– The main surveillance radar ‘Fregat-M2M’, responsible for long-range detection of air and surface targets, was likely damaged.
During the operation, the SBU breached the dense and multi-level enemy air defense system around the Novorossiysk bay and port. A fire on the deck lasted about 18 hours, indicating serious internal destruction and complicated work for emergency teams.
The ship received critical damage, significantly limiting its ability to deploy ‘Kalibr’ cruise missiles. Currently, the frigate cannot strike on Ukrainian territory.”
The missile carrier “General Oblivion” of some sort… Finish it off already, so it won’t suffer.
