Analysis of Combined Shelling in Ukraine on February 22, 2026
Serhii Misiura

Another combined attack. It’s another one, not unique, but there are some details. So, a brief analysis.

You’ve seen the general statistics – practically all cruise missiles were shot down again. Our air defense forces = gods again! 17 out of 18 X-101 cruise missiles, 4 out of 4 X-59 missiles, 2 out of 2 Iskander cruise missiles. But the situation with ballistic missiles is a bit worse: 8 out of 22 were shot down, and 2 out of 4 Zircon hypersonic anti-ship missiles. Why? Because most of the ballistic missiles targeted Kirovohrad region, where there are no Patriots with PAC-3 missiles.

Where they aimed

Energy sector again. Kyiv CHPs 5,6, Trypilska, and Kirovohrad and substations of 330 and 750kV again. This time Bolhrad, Vinnytsia, and Ukrainka in Kirovohrad region, which suffered the most this night.

How they attacked

Today’s tactic was smarter than during the last abortive attack. It’s clear that the higher command “was on alert” again.

Ballistic missiles and Zirkons towards Kyiv – all flew around four in the morning from different sides. Zircons were launched at intervals of 5-7 minutes. That is, there were 2 launch points, rather than charging one with four missiles. They certainly awaited adjustments. This is the time to see the first two hits/shots down and make corrections. To avoid entering the zone of PAC-3 missiles again. Therefore, the next two were not shot down. A naval battle in airspace, as I always say.

The ballistic missiles flew in standardly, with a range of 500 km, nothing to discuss here. They were shot down where the Patriot is stationed. That’s why Kirovohrad region, where it isn’t stationed, suffered the most. Last time, Kinzhals “were seeking” our aviation at Kanatove.

As for the Zircons, I’ll add a bit. It’s bad that they have accumulated such reserves. More precisely, they can launch four missiles “on the move” a week. It’s good that we are shooting them down at all, as they were created to be beyond the reach of the Patriot.

Additional details. As I speculated in the last analysis that they are starting to switch to summer targets, this time, it’s confirmed. Today, the railway infrastructure and the locomotives themselves were hit once again. And the next summer target after our aviation – water infrastructure. Today, the enemy aimed there; there is official information, not just my “analysis.”

Did they manage to achieve their planned objectives today?

No, they didn’t. Because the air defense – heroes. And other units – cool Cossacks who constantly work to make such attacks the most that they can attempt.

How much did this cost them? A lot. Hundreds of millions of dollars.

And we repelled them with minimal loss.

Why such a brief analysis?

Because I have detailed previous analyses. Apart from the new tactics of Zircons and water strikes – nothing new. The main thing is that we are holding on, and the weather is improving 😎.
