The Supreme Court has concluded a disgraceful episode, where an important and obviously correct idea — the creation of a memorial cemetery for our military — was turned into another corruption scheme. At the same time, the court consciously did not address the legal consequences, limiting itself to assessing the legality of the authorities’ actions. And that turned out to be sufficient.
The National Military Memorial Cemetery was supposed to be a place of memory that unites the country. A place where the state and society honor those who gave their lives for Ukraine. But things turned out differently. It was revealed that the Ukrainian authorities are incapable of resolving even sacred matters without scandal — the memory of fallen heroes.
Instead of an open competition for the critically important project and transparent construction, we saw a clandestine distribution of funds among “their own,” the involvement of sanctioned companies, and a decision that looks like a mockery of the very idea of the memorial: burials in a place with a high level of groundwater, effectively in water.
The court confirmed: the land was removed from the forest fund, transferred, and re-registered in violation of the law. Without proper procedures, without adequate justification, and against public opposition.
Among all possible ways to create a military memorial, the authorities seemingly consciously chose the worst — one that discredits the very idea of honoring the fallen. Protests by the military, environmentalists, relatives of the deceased, local residents, and numerous journalistic anti-corruption investigations became the backdrop for yet another construction scam.
Ukraine could have created one of the best memorials in Europe. Instead, it received another symbol of cynicism and managerial incompetence.
The decision of the Supreme Court is not the end, but only a confirmation of the obvious. This disgrace must be stopped. And start with a clean slate — to create a memorial complex that the country can be proud of, not ashamed of.

Look how the Bankova operates insidiously? When they, like a mad bulldozer, ignored certain calls from society and pushed forward the issue of creating a National Military Memorial Cemetery where they decided, the opinion of the military mattered little to them. No other opinion mattered at all. But when the Supreme Court declared the transfer and change of the purpose of the land plot in the Markhalivskyi forest illegal, then immediately at Bankova, they decided to cover up with the opinion of those respected in society. Is this cynicism in its worst form? I think so…
(It should be noted that it is unlikely anyone ordered the military to write posts in support… Perhaps they were just asked. Politely. That’s enough if, of course, you don’t want to lose certain relationships with certain officials. No one is to blame here. This is simply how the system works).
But… Despite everything, a question hangs in the air, written in huge letters, three meters high… “Dear authorities! Can you do ANYTHING without messing it up?! Just anything?!”
Does Ukraine need its own Arlington? Yes! Unfortunately, it does. Are there people in the country who understand this topic? Yes! There are! Could it have been done normally, like human beings? Of course! Read Vitaliy Haydukyevich’s posts on this topic! I can assume that he alone understands this topic better than all of Bankova combined. And there are plenty of people like Haydukyevich in Ukraine. I remember his post of indignation when the authorities even held so-called round tables discussing many issues regarding the creation of the National Military Memorial Cemetery. But all these forums and hearings turned out to be nothing more than a sham like: “We will, of course, listen to you so no one says we don’t care about public opinion, but we’ll still do what we decided long ago.”
And here is the result! The decision of the Supreme Court of Ukraine! Which cannot be ignored… EVEN if one really wants to.
So once again, I repeat the same question… “Dear authorities! Can you do ANYTHING without messing it up?!” Who or what prevented you from doing everything wisely from the first step, instead of how you are used to! Like we don’t care, and if something goes wrong, we can always use the phrase “Screwed up”?
And what to do now? Continue creating the National Military Cemetery? You can’t, because there’s a Supreme Court decision. Ignore this decision? You can’t either, because it will set a very bad precedent, by the way. And here, please, is the result! Due to the unprofessional actions of certain “specialists,” we faced a problem! A huge problem! And by the way, it has a surname. Possibly even several surnames, due to whose senseless actions now very unfortunate events will unfold around those warriors already buried in this cemetery. There’s no point in talking about money in this matter.

Today will be a day of the most perverse cynicism. In the dispute over NMVK (illegal change of land purpose), the Supreme Court recorded a violation of the law.
In response, Zelensky forced military management bodies to write their indignation. Madiar (SBS), KDSHV, 7th corps have already written.
It’s very simple – “ordered,” and orders are not discussed. But is there a written order to write comments that actually defend the wild corruption around NMVK?
Probably not.
We need to wait until the evening to see who else among the military commanders has been forcibly turned against legality and for the burial of the fallen in the swamp, corruption on memory. And then remind how NMVK initially decided to ignore common sense and decency. Also under coercion, as only Bankova stands behind this disgrace.
