To understand the direction of thought and plans of the current government, there’s no need to delve into conspiracy theories. Even more, there’s no need to look for complex constructions. They tell everything themselves; one just needs to listen. From Volodymyr Zelensky to those close to him, as well as those who now seek to occupy the places of “effective managers,” who one after another are being swept away by the anti-corruption wave.
So what does the picture look like?
Zelensky tirelessly repeats: “US guarantees are agreed upon 100%.” To please Trump, he decided to even speak in tune with him at Davos and send a delegation to Abu Dhabi to meet with Americans and Russians without Europeans. But now it seems even without the Americans. “Bilateral” negotiations are predicted. In other words, what everyone persistently advises against because “KGB” has too many advantages over “QVQ.”
Instead of seeking ways for the unconditional cessation of fire as the first step to peace, they got drawn into discussions on how the Ukrainian Armed Forces should leave Donbas. This is the price of the failed “American track” of negotiations last year, the inability to establish communication with Trump’s entourage, which the Russians managed to establish.
Now, the usual remains – to curse “Minsk,” which was a trap for Putin, and the Russians gladly escaped this trap.
Instead, they got “Anchorage”: territorial losses even beyond what the Russians won in battle as a prerequisite for any “steps to peace.”
Instead of finding ways to escape this trap, they resort to tricks. How to “sell” it to Ukrainians. Therefore, they seek various types of “smoke screens”: all these talks about “free economic,” “demilitarized,” etc., “zones.”
But the Russians do not need anyone in Ukraine to save face. They need to leave a time bomb – a conflict that would blow Ukraine up from the inside, even if the Russians agree to a pause. Such a conflict would allow the Russians to break in as “peacekeepers,” “calmers”… just as they like.
This is what Poroshenko avoided in Minsk. However, in 2019, wanting to do everything “not like Poroshenko,” Zelensky decided to agree to the Russian interpretation of the Minsk agreements. To follow the lead of Russian agents, who are now being exposed one by one…
… However, amid these revelations, Zelensky and his entourage wish not to change, but to preserve. Also through tricks.
Firstly, to sweeten the bitter as much as possible.
“But peace” we will soon hear from every iron.
“But Europe,” and this is new. Officials are eagerly talking about “joining the EU by 2027.” Warnings or even outright refutations from European officials (up to Merz) are being shrugged off with a brisk “where will you go?”
However, to join Europe, one must be Europe. This is impossible, introducing “sanctions” for political motives or for enrichment, monopolizing media, and turning law enforcement into a collective “state bureau of repression.” And at the same time robbing state monopolies, budgets, sending “twos to Moscow,” “threes to the station” and taking the rest for “salaries.” By the way, Europe’s clear requirements for accession negotiations concern all these points.
But changing these points is considered dangerous for the foundation on which the current government stands.
Therefore, “secondly” is launched – elections during martial law. That is, elections without choice. Without opposition, without freedom of speech, without observers. Preferably “in a smartphone.” More precisely, on a server at Bankova. It’s about them that Zelensky occasionally speaks.
So far, all official documents talk about elections after martial law. There is still an existing document – a political agreement on this within the “Monet Dialogues” among all parliamentary forces. Recently, PACE, whose opinion is the basis for the position of European institutions on these issues, also clearly stated the impossibility of elections during martial law.
The headwind is too strong. Trying to act against it can get really messy.
So they are looking for a way out of the situation in Zelensky’s entourage. But not in the way of uniting the country, forcing Russia to ceasefire, cleansing in free elections, and working on liberating territories. Such a path does not suit the government. They think about how to outsmart.
But attempts to cheat without understanding strategy always played a cruel joke on Ukraine. Because the enemy has a strategy, and this gives him an advantage. Putin has no motivation to play along with the Ukrainian government. He needs a situation where there is discord and chaos in Ukraine. This is exactly where the attempts of the government to preserve themselves against all odds lead.
There is no way out of this box, except to get out of the box itself. To refuse to play in “mono-majority” and unification. It is convincingly, experimentally proven – it does not work, it drags down.
A unity coalition.
A rescue government.
Providing for the Armed Forces.
Protection and support of communities.
Mature foreign policy utilizing all opportunities.
And you know it yourself.
Moreover, “at Zelensky’s” they also know. But they wish to avoid, because they still want to reign and rule. We go around in a circle that is narrowing and threatens to tighten into a noose unless the government’s behavior changes. Forcibly.
But what will be the price?
Do not forget to ask them for this.
